Wendel Clark was born 1966 in Kelvinton Saskatchewan.He wore #13 playing left wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Clark played 13 seasons with Toronto from 1985-86 to 1993-94, and again from 1995-96 to 1997-98, coming back to the Leafs once more from Jan.2000 to retire after the 2000 season a Maple Leaf.
In his first season as a Leaf Clark scored 34 goals and had 45 points, finishing second for the rookie of the year award.
Clark in his rookie season scored a hat trick in a win against the New York Rangers in Feb.1986.
In his first two seasons Clark was no stranger to fighting, racking up 498 penalty minutes, Clark was the first player on the team to defend his team mates, and send a message to the opposition, if you pick on our players you deal with me.
He played an aggressive game driving the net to score, respected by the players earned Clark the captaincy from 1991 to 1994.
At the beginning of the 1986-87 season in October Clark scored 4 goals in a tie game with Buffalo.Clark had 7 hat tricks playing with Toronto, two of the hat tricks were in back to back games in Feb.and March of 1994 against the Ottawa Senators and the Detroit Red Wings. Another was in game 6 of a 7 game playoff series with the Los Angeles Kings, Clark`s 3 goals were in a losing effort.
Clark helped the Leafs get into the playoffs and a run for the Stanley Cup in 1993, he and the team were stopped from advancing to the final series by the Los Angeles Kings. This 1993 post season would be the closest the Leafs will have come to playing in a final series since 1967.
