Tim Horton was born 1930 in Cochrane Ontario. He wore #7 playing defence for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Horton played 19 seasons with Toronto from 1951-52 to 1969-70.
Horton played his position of defence like clock work a stay at home defenceman who cleared his end of the rink reliably, known around the league as one of the strongest players of his time, at only 5 foot 10" and 180 lbs. Horton was not a fighter and would rather try to keep the peace with his teammates and opponents, by skating into a scrum of pushing players and grabbing a player in each arm and be able to hold them apart, policing the situation.
During his playing days with the Leafs, Horton helped his team win four Stanley Cups in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967.
The coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs Punch Imlach had said he thought, Tim Horton more than any other one player was the key to those glory days in the 1960`s.
Players on Horton`s team and around the league spoke highly of Horton. He holds the Maple Leaf club record for consecutive games played at 486.
In the 1968-69 season Horton won the Bicknell Cup for the most valuable player.
Tim Horton is not only well known as a Toronto Maple Leaf hockey player, but also for his coffee and doughnut shops that started with the first one located in Hamilton Ontario in 1964, it became a huge success.
