Paul Henderson was born 1943 in Kincardine Ontario.
He wore #19 playing left wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs.Henderson played 7 seasons with Toronto from 1968 to 1973-74.
In his first full season 1968-69 Henderson scored 27 goals. The next few seasons he had some steady play on a line with Norm Ulman and Ron Ellis, He scored 30 goals in 1970-71, and 38 goals in 1971-72.
Henderson is well known for scoring the winning goal against the USSR team, that played team Canada in the 1972 summit series, Henderson scored the winning goals in game 6, game 7, and game 8. Its the last one game 8 that fans remember, in the dying seconds of the final game in the third period,Henderson scored on his own rebound in front of the Russian net with only 34 seconds left to play to win the summit series for Canada.
In the 1972-73 season Henderson had only 18 goals, he had lost his scoring touch. One more season to redeem himself back to form but the 1973-74 season produced only 24 goals and Henderson was off to play with the Toronto Toros of the World Hockey Association.
