Frank Mahovlich was born 1938 in Timmins Ontario. He wore #27 playing left wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mahovlich played 11 seasons with Toronto from 1956-57 to 1967-68. Mahovlich at 17 years old played hockey in Toronto with the St. Michaels Majors of the OHA. He had 24 goals in 1955-56, the next season he had 52 goals in 49 games. The Leafs called up the scoring sensation to get a look at him in the 1956-57 season, he played 3 games before finishing the season in the minors.
His first full season with the Leafs was in 1957-58, where he recorded 20 goals and 36 points was enough to win rookie of the year and the Calder Trophy.
In the 1960-61 season Mahovlich scored 48 goals, two goals shy of 50, that is considered a great accomplishment by any player that can score 50 times in a single season.
Mahovlich helped the Leafs win 4 Stanley Cups in the 1960`s they were 1962,1963,1964, and 1967. Known as the big "M" standing 6' 200 lbs. He had a familiar look on the ice, where you would see Mahovlich skate the puck up ice with one hand on his stick controling the puck, and gaining speed to get over the opponents blue line.
Mahovlich was traded to the Detroit Red Wings in 1968, where he got to play with Gordie Howe, Alex Delvecchio, and his brother Peter.
