Doug Gilmour was born 1963 in Kingston Ontario. He wore #93 playing center for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Gilmour played 6 seasons with Toronto from 1992 to 1996-97.Gilmour came to Toronto from the Calgary Flames in 1992, already a Stanley Cup winner he brought his playing skills and atmosphere with him to win.

Inspiration was what Doug Gilmour gave his teammates, his first season in 1992 he scored 15 goals and had 49 points, in his second season he had 32 goals and 127 points, in his third season with Toronto he had 27 goals and 111 points, with numbers like these its easy to see how Gilmour led the team by example. He played a great driving force for the Leafs as a defensive forward, who would win the Selke Trophy in 1993.

In 1992-93 Gilmour`s first full season with Toronto he would lead the team with a Leaf record 127 point regular season. In the post season playoffs Gilmour helped Toronto get past Detroit and St. Louis both rounds were won in seven games. One more round of playoffs that 1993 post season to advance to the Stanley Cup final against Montreal. But to beat the Los Angeles Kings and their star player Wayne Gretzky was a tall order.

The Leafs and Gilmour had the Kings 3 games to 2 during the sixth game referee Kerry Fraser on replay was seen to be aware Gretzky high sticked Gilmour by accident drawing blood, but Fraser did not penalize Gretzky, he let it go. Gretzky scored to take the series back to Toronto, the Kings won the seventh game and went on to the Stanley Cup final against Montreal.

Gilmour had a determined look in his eyes when playing. Brian Sutter of the St. Louis Blues nicknamed Gilmour "Killer" because of his play and passion in his game.Gilmour was very popular with Leaf fans for the six seasons he played for Toronto, he had to change his phone number more than once.

He had an ability to have an impact on the game in crucial situation. He captained the Leafs from 1994-95 until his trade to New Jersey in 1997. Gilmour came back to Toronto from Montreal in 2003, at the beginning of the 2003-04 season Gilmour injured his knee the first game and did not play again retiring as a Toronto Maple Leaf great player that same year.
