Bill Durnan played goal for the Montreal Canadians. In the 1947-48 season he was made captain of the Canadians, he was the last goalie to captain his team before the rule change disallowing it for the 1948-49 season. He also wore two catching gloves and no blocker, allowing him to play his stick in ether hand.
